Grief support

Grief support

Grief changes everyday life. Sometimes very visibly, sometimes more quietly and over a long period of time.

After the death of someone close, very different things can matter at the same time: memories, decisions, relationships, everyday life or simply the question of how to continue. In grief support, we take time for what’s occupying you right now.

You decide what you want to talk about and what matters to you at the moment. I listen, ask questions and support you in finding your own way of living with the loss.

When support may be useful

There’s no particular point at which grief support has to begin. You can contact me soon after a loss, a few months later, or when something happened a long time ago and still occupies you.

  • after the death of someone close, when you’d like someone to talk to about what you’ve experienced
  • when everyday life has long since moved on, but grief still takes up a great deal of space
  • when very different feelings are present at the same time, such as sadness, anger, guilt, relief or gratitude
  • when relationships change after a death or people within a family grieve in different ways
  • when things remained unresolved in a farewell and you’d like to talk about them or look at them again for yourself
  • also after other profound losses, such as a separation, loss of health, a home or a sense of future direction

How the support works

We begin with a free initial consultation (30 minutes). You tell me what has happened and what’s occupying you at the moment. We get to know each other and see whether my way of supporting you feels right.

Afterwards, we can meet for individual conversations or regularly. Sessions last 60 minutes and take place online. How often we speak depends on what makes sense for you and your situation.

In each conversation, we look at what matters right now. That might be something that has happened since the loss, a memory, a difficult relationship, an upcoming decision or the question of how to continue with everyday life.

If it fits you and your concern, small forms of remembering or saying goodbye can also be part of the support. If you already meditate, your meditation practice can be included. Learning my meditation techniques, however, takes place within the separate meditation offer.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask about grief support

How does grief support work?

We talk about what has happened since the loss and what’s occupying you now. This can include memories, feelings, changes in everyday life, relationships or unresolved questions. I listen, ask questions and we look together at what may help you at the moment.

Can I contact you if the loss happened a long time ago?

Yes. There’s no point at which a loss is “too long ago”. Some things only become important later or come back into focus through changes in your own life.

How long is it normal to grieve?

There’s no fixed duration. Grief can change over time and become stronger or quieter at different stages of life. What matters isn’t how much time has passed since the loss, but how it’s affecting you today.

Do I have to talk about everything in grief support?

No. You decide what you want to share. Things for which you don’t yet have words, or which you don’t want to talk about at the moment, don’t have to be explained.

The first step

If you’d like grief support, we can first get to know each other in a free initial consultation (30 minutes). You tell me what matters right now, and together we see whether my support feels right for you.
